Critical Consumer Info
A little diligence now will go a long way towards you having a pleasant
experience, with no runarounds, lies, or headaches that won't go away!
We hope that you will take the time to carefully read this consumer-oriented information as it was prepared on your behalf.
Remember we are here to INFORM YOU, EDUCATE YOU, AND NOT JUST TO SELL YOU, on the when's, where's, and how's of the shipping industry. There are some very important things that you need to know about and consider before picking any company! And we're here to tell you...
With so many companies to choose from, we want to advise you what you need to look for! It is very difficult to sort-out which company is best-suited for you, which one offers you exactly what you need, or even which one is being truthful with you. You will never be treated as just a number, another shipment, but rather as a very important person to us with real and specific needs. Best of all, the same person will usually handle your shipment from start to finish. We don't pass the buck from person to person causing our clients frustration. So, how will you know which company is right for you or even who is telling you the truth? You probably won't, with all the slick pitches and phony promises! And that's the problem! The following is some information which you should ask each company.
1. Is the company government licensed? Each broker and each trucker is given an MC number by the Federal Highway Administration office, not the ICC! There is no ICC anymore. If anyone even mentions being licensed with the ICC, then there is something wrong. Ask to see the actual letter of authorization with the MC number on it.
2. What about insurance? This is a very confusing aspect. First, the actual trucking company which hauls your car carries the insurance for your shipment, not the broker. It is impossible for anyone else to insure your car. Brokers can not get cargo or liability insurance because they own nothing to insure.
3. What is the company's track record? Make sure that no matter which company you choose that you take the time to carefully check them out. Some agencies you might want to check with are The Better Business Bureau and the Chamber of Commerce in the city where the company is located. All companies will have complaints. The key is, that there should be no UNRESOLVED complaints. The Federal Highway Administration (which investigates claims) is located in Washington D.C. They keep files on all companies.
4. Are you quoted a delivery time or day? There is NO WAY any company can quote you on delivery expectations. Common sense dictates that bad weather conditions, bad road conditions, driver illness and fatigue, mechanical breakdowns etc., can determine and will effect and change delivery time. A GUARANTEE IS IMPOSSIBLE.
5. Does the broker which you contacted for a quote have direct authority? Are they licensed with the FHWA or are they just operating under someone else's license? Be careful if they are not licensed directly with the Federal Highway Authority, then something is very wrong.
We want you to know that our shipping personnel are the best trained in the industry. The lessons we have learned years gives you, the shipper, a huge advantage. We are very knowledgeable regarding the rules and regulations of the Federal Highway Administration. Our first commitment to you is to ship your car in the safest manner possible. This includes placing it with the right carrier (trucking company) or driver so that we minimize the chance of any damage ever happening. Even though all the trucks we use have cargo and liability insurance, it is very important that your vehicle be dispatched to a carrier that has the most experience shipping your type of vehicle.

We sincerely hope that you choose to ship with us. We realize that this is a tough decision to make with so many choices. We are always available to give you more information or handle any special requests which you may have regarding your particular move. We would appreciate the opportunity to make this a trouble-free move and a very pleasant experience. We also know that doing a good job for you will mean repeat business for us and referrals from you.
